Fighting the CoD
November 20, 2004
Editor-in-chief Caleb Stegall and contributing editor Thomas Heilke talk about tNP and its mission in today’s Lawrence Journal-World. Journalists are always hopelessly reductive, but the worst that’s done here is the translation of “culture of death” as a reference to “abortion.” That is no definition of course. There are not-particularly-religious critiques of medical thanatocracy, the Catholic critique of modern, technologically-circumscribed sexuality, and the larger ideas expressed by the holy father in his many remarks on the the CoD. (The “Catholic” critique is properly quite “catholic,” and it’s been embraced & appropriated by protestants, eastern orthodox christians, and others–including pro-life neopagans or non-religionists pursuing a “holistic” life.)This is Fighting the CoD in The Japery, a part of The New Pantagruel.
