Rhetorical Pluralism
September 13, 2005
New York University law professor Noah Feldman wants “values evangelicals” and “legal secularists” to get along. His solution? Let the former talk all the religion they want in public, but deny them “state financing,” such as school vouchers. Feldman’s lumping of many different religious traditionalists in the “evangelical” category suggests a basic failure to understand the role of tradition and practice and the true nature of the “belief divide.”This is Rhetorical Pluralism in The Japery, a part of The New Pantagruel.
