I mean the orthodox kind: Eugene and Elizabeth Genovese. Someone passed me this old interview, and it ages well. I had no idea Eugene was once a true-believing Communist. It makes sense–ex-Marxist Catholics seem to be remarkably good at stating the obvious about important issues today–issues about which most people are in deep denial. I wonder what the think of the GOP now, with a president elected twice who some on the right feel is rather like Genovese’s description of Clinton…This is Academic Heresiarchs in The Japery, a part of The New Pantagruel.
