Iain Murray’s Novel Idea
November 07, 2005
For once I find myself in complete agreement with something over at The Corner:
Banning the private possession of automobiles would be a huge boost to the blacksmithing, farrier, and livery industries. And to feed all those horses would mean a massive expansion of agriculture … . In fact, there would be such a need for agricultural labor that we could even lower the school leaving age and give children jobs! It’s a win-win solution.Win-win indeed! Not only would this solve the job outsourcing problem Murray is addressing, but it would 1) strengthen our national defense by eliminating our reliance on foreign energy sources; 2) allow us to whip into some semblance of shape that sorry mass of pathetic humanity being mass produced by our schools sometimes referred to as the “next generation”; 3) shore up the religious crisis of middle minded america by once again establishing the arc between soil and God, death and rebirth, toil and prayer, body and soul; 4) regain control over environmental degradation; etc etc.
