Or at least they shouldn’t generate books. From the RNA’s list of top religion stories of the past year:Rick Warren’s The Purpose-Driven Life and Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code dominate best-seller lists throughout the year; Joel Osteen’s Your Best Life Now makes it near year’s end. Warren’s book becomes the focus of countless study groups; Osteen’s is beginning to do so. Brown’s novel inspires a number of efforts seeking to debunk his premise.The Osteen book has the initially startling distinction of being blurbed by Chuck Norris, Creflo Dollar, Pat Robertson, and Max Lucado. There’s quite a bit of common ground among that lot, such as Thomas Nelson Publishers, the good old CBA and all they represent. Is Osteen a really big fan of Spandau Ballet?
